PROGRAMMING AND DATA ACQUISITION

ArcSine Engineering has considerable experience in programming, starting up, modifying, and troubleshooting programmed systems. Several programming examples appear below.

NASA-AMES ARC JET CONTROLS

Provided design, programming, installation, and startup assistance for a turn-key replacement for the 60 Megawatt power supply servo control system. Control system utilized National Instruments RT, dedicated high-speed PCI embedded processor card.

Programmed and provided startup assistance for a TI PLC which controlled the direct-connect combustion research facility. Elements controlled included 100-megawatt power supply, hydrogen supply, nitrogen supply, air supply, and water supply for high-energy, short-duration tests.

NASA-AMES VERTICAL MOTION SIMULATOR

Provided design, programming, installation, and testing of a digital system replacement to existing servo Mode Control Unit (MCU). System was based on VME chassis, processor, and I/O cards including high-bandwidth communication to the super minicomputer host via Scramnet.

NASA-AMES Arc Jet DATA ACQUISITION

Design, programming, installation, and testing of a high-speed fiber optic data acquisition system for the 60-megawatt dc Power Supply at the Arc Jet Facility of NASA-Ames Research Center, Mountain View, California. The system required 33kV of electrical isolation from ground.

Provided a biddable design for the new data acquisition infrastructure at the Steam Vacuum System. The design specified 57 precision field instruments, National Instruments Field Point RTU’s, and Ethernet data highway cabling.

NASA HIGH-PRESSURE AIR SYSTEM

Designed, furnished, and provided construction services for a 150-point PC-based data acquisition system for existing dual 3,000-psi reciprocating air compressor system, including detailed design of instrumentation tubing and field-mounted PLC cabinet.

NASA 7X10-FOOT WIND TUNNEL

Furnished, installed, and programmed a PLC system which controlled the air system valving and temperature control of the wind tunnel.


In addition, as a result of specifying PLC's on many projects, ArcSine frequently performs submittal reviews and startup assistance.
